IFUW last call for delegates 59th CSW

Posted on

The 59th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) will meet in New York on 09 to 20 March 2015 (tentative).  The priority theme will be “Beijing +20”, focusing on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform For Action (BPfA) on its 20th anniversary.  The review theme will discuss the outcomes of the 23rdspecial session of the UN General Assembly adopted in 2000 (“further actions and initiatives to implement the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action”), as well as the challenges that still exist in achieving gender equality and empowerment for women, including the role of the Post-2015 development agenda.

Call for Delegates – Deadline 1st October 2014

NGO delegations for the official 59th CSW Session will be limited.  IFUW would like to invite members interested in participating to propose their candidacy.  Individual delegates will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • EITHER current or recent professional/work experience related to the Beijing Declaration and Platform For Action  (BPfA) OR Strong experience with the UN advocacy/lobbying process
  • Strong knowledge of IFUW programmes and priorities
  • Ability to make ad hoc oral presentations.

Some places will be reserved for members of NFAs presenting parallel NGO events.  One or two places may be reserved for high level experts.  Priority will be given to members who are able to attend more than two days. Members who are interested in attending as part of IFUW’s delegation, including those who have already expressed interest, should download application form and send the completed form to csw2015@ifuw.org no later than 1st October 2014.  This early deadline for applications will give the successful candidates more time to complete the US visa application process.

Please note:

While delegation members will have access to the many side panels and workshops, there will be limited access to the official government sessions. IFUW’s passes to the government meetings will be shared among the delegation as appropriate.

IFUW does not have any funding available to assist with travel, accommodation, subsistence or other costs.

Many thanks and best regards,
