The sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women will take place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 14 to 24 March 2016.
The CSW Representatives of Member States, UN entities, and ECOSOC-accredited non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from all regions of the world will attend the session. It is an important moment for actors working on equality between women and men, as it allows governments and civil society organisations across the world to interact and dialogue on concrete themes:
Women’s empowerment and its link to sustainable development
The elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls (agreed conclusions from the fifty-seventh session)
To be determined
Ahead of the 2016 meeting, the European Women’s Lobby (EWL) together with the Swedish Women’s Lobby (which initiated the statement), the Slovak Women´s Lobby, the Cyprus Women’s Lobby, the Women’s NGOs Cooperation Network of Latvia, the International Alliance of Women, and the European Network of Migrant Women (ENoMW), the EWL draws clear demands for action at international and European level to realise the full human rights of all women and girls in a Joint EWL-members final statement to CSW60 .
The EWL therefore would like to ask all our members to make sure that representatives of women’s NGOs are included in their delegation to CSW. “Such as an inclusion is a very good example of civil dialogue, as promoted by the European Union, especially through its clause on participatory democracy”. Here you can find the Letter inclusion of NGOs in gov delegations CSW 2016_EN if you need support to be included in your national delegation. Then, if some of you need to be accredited with the EWL, please do it until 27 January, and up to 18 individuals.
Let’s share information and coordinate our efforts! If you or your members are interested to come, can you please write us at email@example.com.
