Femmes sans voile
On 10th July, our Vice President Isabelle TRIMAILLE attended the event “Journée mondiale de femmes sans voile” – Place de la République in Paris. Isabelle was a member of the Delegation of the French coordination of women’s associations called European Women Lobby (EWL).
Here is the declaration of “Femmes sans voile d’Aubervilliers” translated in english:
“ In solidarity with all the Muslim women around the world who are fighting to stop wearing the veil.
The veil is neither a simple tissue nor a relationship with God. It is the preferred instrument of the Islamists for calling into question the fundamental rights of equality and freedom for women. It is the material sign of sexual apartheid.
Like the Algerian women, we wear a white ribbon bracelet to show a special solidarity to the Iranians who are currently mobilising against this sexist symbol that had been imposed to them for nearly 40 years. That all countries that practice sexual apartheid in sport, such as Saudi Arabia and Iran, to be excluded from competitions.
We demand the implementation of Council of Europe Assembly Resolution 1464, 4/10/2005 on Minors: Article 7.4. “to ensure that freedom of religion and respect for culture and tradition are not accepted as pretexts for the justification of violations of women’s rights, including when minor girls are forced to submit to religious codes (including dress codes) their freedom of movement is hampered or that access to contraception is prohibited by the family or community”.
We, French people from Muslim countries, refuse the political and communitarian project of the Islamists.
The veil is the negation of Liberty and Egality!
